Jessee Ring Visits NRCC

On Monday, March 29, I had a meeting at the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington. This is the organization that focuses on House of Representative elections throughout the country. My discussions went well, and I am heartened by their offers of help and support.

Campaign Update And Donation Request

March 30, 2010

Dear Friends,
On January 31, I was the first challenger to declare his candidacy for the nomination for the Ninth District Congressional seat. I did not hesitate. Six newspapers covered the announcement. When I got in the race, the whole dynamic changed. The incumbent is now on the defensive, and he is already running hard, something he normally doesn’t do until after Labor Day.
Since making my announcement, I have been going around the Ninth District to the county and city committees and other places to talk to people:
• My representative or I have visited: Dickenson, Floyd, Smyth, Tazewell, Bland, Montgomery, Russell, Wythe, Wise, Pulaski, Henry, Scott, Roanoke, Radford, Bristol, Craig, Lee, Grayson, and Carroll, some of them multiple times. The others are on my schedule.
• I have been shown coal operations in the Norton-Wise-Pound area by a thirty year veteran of the industry.
• I was shown around Richlands and introduced to people by a long-time resident,
• Similarly for Wise County.
• I have also been to my home town of Narrows and other places in Giles County to visit with old friends there.

We all know the litany of bad policies that have come out of Washington in recent months, culminating in the disastrous government takeover of health care. Yet I have been greatly encouraged by the energy and motivation people have for taking our country back in the right direction. The election in November is a battle for the future of the country. It will be a watershed that will decide whether we continue down the road to socialism or we re-embrace the traditional American values that have made us what we are as a nation. America is the best country in the world and the greatest force for good the world has ever seen. I am running because I feel a calling. I feel compelled to stand up and speak out for our country and our Southwest Virginia values.

To do this, I need your support. As you all know, it takes money to run a campaign. I ask that you send a donation of any size to:

Friends Of Jessee Ring For Congress
P. O. Box 3704
Wise, VA 24293

Your donation will be used for a website, campaign literature, direct mail to the convention delegates, and for my campaign consultant.

There is not much time until the convention. It will be greatly appreciated if you can send your contribution by April 7.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Jessee Ring Gets Press Coverage As A Friend Of Coal

Jessee Ring gets coverage in the Lebanon News as a friend of coal.

Congress and Obama Attack MediCare

Let me make sure I understand this. We're going to strengthen the MediCare program by slashing its funding. In the real world, outside of DC, a half trillion dollars cut from MediCare can mean only one thing: Less MediCare. Rationing, in other words.

Where does the half trillion dollars cut from MediCare go? To pay for health care for other people that Congress apparently thinks are more important than MediCare recipients.

Pay no attention to those who say that the government is taking over health care.

A Power Crazed Congress

So Congress has thumbed their collective nose at the American people. By using procedural tricks, budgetary gimmicks, and deceit about the long term effects, they have imposed their will on the American people in the government health care bill. They see themselves as the ruling elite and us as their subjects whose job is to do their bidding.

But November is coming.

Last night I was in Marion, and today I'm in Russell County.

7:30 p.m. Sunday

They don't have the votes!!!!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Washington has become a parallel universe

Have you heard the latest in the Washington insanity? They are trying to pass the health care bill without actually voting on it; they want to "deem" it into law. So much for the Constitution.

Can I just "deem" that my taxes are paid, without actually paying them?

Friday, March 19, 2010

Can We Just Fire Them All?

Let me get this straight......we're trying to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president that also hasn't read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke.

What could possibly go wrong????

Jessee Ring Challenges Morgan Griffith To A Debate

Jessee Bane Ring, candidate for the Republican nomination for the Ninth Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, today issued a challenge to Morgan Griffith, another candidate for the nomination, to a debate on the issues. The challenge was made at the Radford City Committee meeting.

“There are a number of very significant issues facing America and the people of Southwest Virginia. You know the litany: government spending trillions of borrowed money, massive government bailouts, government taking over car companies, government trying to take over health care, cap and tax, giving constitutional rights to terrorists, the war in Afghanistan, the President of the United States going around the world apologizing for America, Iran, North Korea. The positions of the candidates for the nomination on these major issues needs to be fully discussed and aired in public, so that the people can have the benefit of that in making their decision of who to nominate”, said Ring.

“The election in November is a battle for the future of the country. It is a battle over liberty. We need to make sure that we send the right person to Washington from the Ninth District, someone who will stand fast for our Southwest Virginia values and principles, someone who is one of us”, Ring added.

Ring said, “I think a debate on these issues is necessary. The candidates should let the people have all of the information needed in order to decide who will be the best candidate. I call on Morgan Griffith to respond within three days to my request for such a debate.”

Jessee Ring Visits Coalfields of Southwest Virginia

Norton, VA, Mar. 12, 2010
Jessee Ring, candidate for the Republican nomination for the Ninth Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representative, recently was shown coal operations in the Norton, Wise, and Pound area of Southwest Virginia by a thirty-year veteran of the coal industry.

“It was very informative to see these actual coal operations, and to hear about the history of coal mining in this region by someone who has seen it all firsthand. It was especially noteworthy to me to learn how much effort is put into the reclamation of mining sites once the coal has played out. I saw shopping centers, hospitals, highway interchanges, businesses, and others that were all located on reclaimed mining sites. I am impressed with the modern coal mining operations that allow these reclaimed sites to be used in such a productive manner after the mining is done. This is all good for the local economy, and it means jobs for people in this area”, said Ring

Ring also saw the Dominion Resources electric generation plant currently under construction in Wise County. It was pointed out to Mr. Ring that this facility will create more than 1400 high paying jobs, all filled by Americans, during construction, and 75 permanent jobs once it’s in operation. It was also noted that this plant will be primarily coal-fired, which will also help our local coal industry.

“My father and grandfather were coal miners. The coal industry is vital to our regional economy”, said Ring. “I am glad to have had this opportunity to learn more about it. I pledge to strongly support our Southwest Virginia coal industry when I go to Washington”, he added.

Traditional American Values

America is the greatest country in the world and the greatest force for good the world has ever seen. America is what it is because of traditional American values: self reliance and hard work; low taxes so people keep more of what they earn; a recognition that economic prosperity comes through free enterprise, not government programs; individual liberty to live our lives the way we see fit; jobs so people can provide for themselves instead of relying on the government; families. We need policies coming from Washington that tap into and support these traditional American values.
