Jessee Ring's Closing Statement At The Debate - 4/27/10

==> Thank you all for coming out to hear us tonight.
==> You’re aware of the stream of bad policies coming out of Washington the past few months that most people opposed.
==> But this is America, and we are Virginians. We Virginians know how to deal with an oppressive government: Sic Semper Tyrannis.
==> I am firmly convinced that we will not win in November by engaging in “politics as usual”. People are fed up with the Washington shenanigans, the political maneuvering, and all of that.
==> I am the kind of candidate that the incumbent fears the most, and I can win in November.
o I am not a career politician.
o I am a staunch conservative and a constitutionalist.
o I am a Ninth District native-son with deep Southwest Virginia roots. My father and grandfather were coal miners inVirginia and West Virginia.
o Plus, I have world-wide experiences.
==> But most of all, I am a new face with fresh perspectives.
==> I was the first to declare my candidacy.
==> I was the first to issue a call for a debate, which led to us being here tonight.
==> I was the first to issue a legislative plan of action with my “5 in 10” commitment.
==> I was the first to go through coal country seeing coal operations first-hand and leaning more about that.
==> I was the first to visit a free health care clinic in the Ninth District.
==> I was the only candidate to attend the energy conference at UVA Wise last week.
==> And I am the only candidate who has been doing the grass roots work of the Republican Party of Virginia for years right here in the 9th. District!
==> I have taken the initiative in this campaign and I will continue to take the initiative in Washington.
==> When I get to Washington, I will answer to you the people, not the political bosses. I don’t have to worry about doing what’s right for my political career, because that’s not why I will be there. I will do what’s best for you the people and the country.
==> Thank you, my name is Jessee Ring, and I ask for your support.

Candidates' Debate

At the Radford City Committee meeting on March 13, I issued a "candidates' debate challenge". You can see it on YouTube. I issued this debate challenge because I felt that a debate would be beneficial to the people in the Ninth District in deciding on a nominee to run for the congressional seat in November. I am glad that my debate challenge has taken hold and that the debate will be held as follows:

Date: Tuesday, April 27
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. (doors open at six, starts promptly at 7:00)
Location: Colonial Hall, Squires Student Center, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg

In order to keep the debate focused on the candidates and ensure that everyone has an enjoyable viewing experience, the debate organizers are asking that no banners, signs, or posters be brought in the lecture hall. In addition, at the beginning of the forum, we will introduce each of the candidates to the audience. The audience may applaud at that time but will be asked to hold any other applause until the end of the debate, so that we can get through as many questions as possible. The candidates will also have namecards at the tables, so that the audience knows who is responding to each question.

I hope you will attend this debate, and spread the word around to others who may be interested.

Thanks,
Jessee Ring

Wesley Memorial Clinic

Last Friday, I visited the Wesley Memorial Clinic in Abingdon. This clinic provides free health care to over 400 people. They charge nothing. All staff, including the doctors and nurse practitioner and support staff are volunteers. The clinic includes a pharmacy, all supplies of which are donated. The building housing the clinic was bought by the Pleasant View United Methodist Church. People from church also renovated the building and recruited all the staff. All of this was done by one church!

This is how the matter of the uninsured should be addressed, not by a massive government program that will cost taxpayers trillions and put bureaucrats in charge.

Jessee Ring Announces His "5 In 10 Commitment"

Jessee Ring knows that the people are tired of politics as usual. He knows that they are fed up with the Washington shenanigans, the political maneuvering, the deals, and all of it. The people are not going to accept this anymore. They want something new and different.

With that in mind, during his first ten weeks in office, Jessee Ring commits to introducing major legislation in five areas where our country needs to be put back on the right track. The areas to be addressed are:

1. Government Spending and Debt

2. Health Care

3. Jobs

4. Energy

5. Term Limits

More information is available in a white paper which can be obtained by going to his website (www.jesseeringforcongress.com) under "Issues", or by sending an email to: info@jesseeringforcongress.com.

Jessee Ring Addresses the Buchanan County Committee

On April 6, Jessee Ring addressed the Buchanan County committee, and paid respects to the coal miners who were killed in the tragedy in West Virginia.

Jessee Ring Has A Strong Coal Heritage

My father and grandfather were coal miners in Virginia and West Virginia. My father was born in Dante in Russell County when it was a booming coal town. He later worked at the mine in Caretta, West Virginia for twelve years. Four of my brothers and sisters were born there in the coal fields.

My grandmother's maiden name was Elizabeth Jessee, which is where I get my first name. That side of the family also has a strong coal heritage. On the Miners Memorial in Dante that identifies the names of local people killed in mine accidents, there are a number of Jessee's listed.

I recently visited coal operations in the Norton, Wise, and Pound area of Southwest Virginia with a thirty-year veteran of the coal industry. It was very informative to see these actual coal operations, and to learn more about the history of coal mining in this region by someone who has seen it all firsthand. It was especially noteworthy to me to learn how much effort is put into the reclamation of mining sites once the coal has played out. I saw shopping centers, hospitals, highway interchanges, businesses, and others that were all located on reclaimed mining sites. I am impressed with the modern coal mining operations that allow these reclaimed sites to be used in such a productive manner after the mining is done. This is all good for the local economy, and it means jobs for people in this area.

Sic Semper Tyrannis

Washington is out of control. Washington is power crazed. You all know the litany of bad policies coming out of Washington during the past few months that we the people opposed. Washington did them any way! They don't care what we think. The government has become oppressive and tyrannical.

But we are Virginians. We have a long and storied history of standing up to tyranny, going all the way back to 1776. Our state flag shows a depiction of Liberty vanquishing Tyranny. It has the words "Sic Semper Tyrannis", which means "Thus always to tyrants". Join me, and we will sweep into Washington, throw out the tyrants, and take this country back into the right direction!!

Sic semper tyranis!
