Candidates' Debate

At the Radford City Committee meeting on March 13, I issued a "candidates' debate challenge". You can see it on YouTube. I issued this debate challenge because I felt that a debate would be beneficial to the people in the Ninth District in deciding on a nominee to run for the congressional seat in November. I am glad that my debate challenge has taken hold and that the debate will be held as follows:

Date: Tuesday, April 27
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. (doors open at six, starts promptly at 7:00)
Location: Colonial Hall, Squires Student Center, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg

In order to keep the debate focused on the candidates and ensure that everyone has an enjoyable viewing experience, the debate organizers are asking that no banners, signs, or posters be brought in the lecture hall. In addition, at the beginning of the forum, we will introduce each of the candidates to the audience. The audience may applaud at that time but will be asked to hold any other applause until the end of the debate, so that we can get through as many questions as possible. The candidates will also have namecards at the tables, so that the audience knows who is responding to each question.

I hope you will attend this debate, and spread the word around to others who may be interested.
